Ransomware now targeting Apple Computers for the first time!
Over the weekend hackers have released a ransomware capable of locking up your Apple computer, and encrypting your files. The program then reaches out to other computers in your network such as servers, imacs, laptops, and begins to infect those as well. The program named “KeRanger” is said to have been released using a corrupted copy of a program named Transmission. Transmission has already advised users to update to version 2.92 to combat the situation. Once KeRanger infects your Apple computer it starts to encrypt your files, documents, and locks you out of your computer, until you pay a ransome of 1 bit coin. Have you been scammed by an Online Tech company claiming you have a Virus?
iYogi, one of the largest online tech support companies which services over 3 million customers is being sued by the State of Washington, claiming that iYogi scams its customers into purchasing computer services and software they do not need. Bob Ferguson the Attorney General for the State of Washington is the person who filed the lawsuit. The company is based in India, but has recently opened its first US support center in Lewiston, Maine. The suit has also named its president Vishal Dhar of New York. The claim states iYogi support techs, will inform the customer that they are representatives of major hardware and software companies such as HP, Microsoft, and Apple.
